ELIXIR-SI Resource Hackathon

ELIXIR-SI Resource Hackathon took place in Ljubljana, Slovenia on 8 April 2016 at the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Computer and Information Science. A half-day event was aimed at the member of the Slovenian ELIXIR node to add their resources to the ELIXIR Tools & Data Service Registry (https://bio.tools) and to create a national catalogue of life science tools and data services.

The hackathon was led by Radka Svobodova, Lukas Pravda, Standa Geidl (all ELIXIR-CZ) and Peter Juvan (ELIXIR-SI). Representatives from the Faculty of Medicine, Biotechnical Faculty, Faculty of Computer and Information Science, Jožef Stefan Institute, University Medical Centre Ljubljana, National Institute of Biology, and National Institute of Chemistry presented their tools. 6 tools were added to the Registry immediately at the hackathon (https://bio.tools/?q=ELIXIR-SI-hackathon), while additional 19 resources were identified and will be registered in near future.

This hackathon was a vital step in establishing a Slovenian catalogue of life science tools and data services and strengthening the collaboration between Central European ELIXIR Nodes. It was also the first event organized in Slovenia after becoming a full member of ELIXIR Board.

Slovenia becomes ELIXIR member

Slovenia is the 17th country to become a full member of ELIXIR Board after the ratification of the ELIXIR Consortium Agreement (ECA) by the Slovenian parliament on Feb 13th, 2016 and upon approval by the ELIXIR Board on Feb 22nd, 2016.

RNA-seq course using Chipster

V petek, 18. septembra 2015 vozlišče ELIXIR Slovenija organizira 4h tečaj RNA-seq z uporabo orodij Chipster. Tečaj bo vodila Eija Korpelainen iz vozlišča ELIXIR Finska, ki sodeluje pri razvoju orodij Chipster.

Tečaj bo potekal med 9h in 14h (z 1h odmora za kosilo) na Medicinski fakulteti v Ljubljani, lokacija Vrazov trg 2, nova stavba Inštituta za biokemijo, 2. nadstropje, seminar 1 in 2. Tečaj je brezplačen, obvezna pa je predhodna prijava. Prostih je 20 mest.

ELIXIR-GOBLET eLearning workshop

Vabimo vas na odprti del delavnice "ELIXIR-GOBLET eLearning workshop", v torek, 15.09.2015 med 16:50 in 19:00 ter v sredo, 16.09.2015 med 09:00 in 12:30. Delavnico organizira ELIXIR Slovenija v Ljubljani v okviru projekta EXCELERATE na Medicinski fakulteti, Vrazov trg 2 v novih prostorih Inštituta za biokemijo, 2. nadstropje, seminar 1 in 2.

ELIXIR partners team up for success

ELIXIR Slovenia Node team up with experts from EMBL-EBI to help create a Centre for Excellence in Translational Medicine (CETM). Through the ARTEMIDA project which has recently been awarded highly-prized grants from the Horizon 2020 WIDESPREAD Teaming Call, partners will develop an integrated research and innovation cluster in translational medicine for Central and South-East Europe. Led by the University of Ljubljana, which will act as the lead partner in Slovenia's ELIXIR Node, ARTEMIDA will allow insight and expertise in data management from staff at EMBL-EBI to be integrated into the CETM. The project will also see expertise in translational medicine provided by Karolinska Institute in Sweden.
